While many homeowners may associate outdoors showers with the ocean, an outdoor garden shower can have several practical uses.

The installation of an outdoor shower can make a lot of sense for many homeowners. While many people may think of an outdoor shower as something used at a beach house, these practical showers are becoming popular for homes of all locations. Rather than making do with a hose, or continuously cleaning up a mudroom, consider the installation of an outdoor shower.

Outdoor Garden Showers

Avid gardeners or homeowners who simply enjoy amateur gardening may find several benefits to the installation of an outdoor garden shower. An outdoor shower can not only rinse the mud off of the user before entering the home, the shower can be used to clean up a variety of tools as well.

Chances are if a homeowner is spending a lot of time in the garden, they are also spending a lot of time rinsing off tools, boots, knees, hands and even wheel barrows with a garden hose. While the hose is certainly functional in this capacity, the lack of a concrete slab and drain can mean that extended use may over water the ground and create more mud than it’s rinsing off.

An outdoor garden shower, which is properly installed with a concrete slab and drain helps keep messes contained. Not only can a homeowner quickly rinse themselves off before heading inside, the cleaned and still wet tools can be left to completely dry on the slab without worrying about the further collection of mud and dirt.

The use of a hand shower, rather than a fixed shower head in this case can offer a homeowner both the versatility of a hose, as well as a shower or means of a long rinse for truly mud encrusted tools. Including a small fence or enclosure around the shower can help provide privacy and security as well.

Pool House Showers

Homeowners with a pool in the back yard may find that an outdoor shower helps keep the mudroom and entry ways to the house free of wet foot prints, towel and drips. Whether or not an actual pool house is in use on the property, an outdoor shower with enclosure can be an easy and useful addition.

An outdoor shower, with an enclosure large enough for bathers to change in can be beneficial during pool or garden parties, as well as for homes with children or frequent swimmers.

Allowing swimmers the opportunity to shower, dry and dress out doors with privacy can mean the end of wet foot prints leading into the house and to the nearest shower. It can also mean the end of wet towels and bathing suits left to hang in a potentially humid bathroom or shower space.

Outdoor Showers and Pet Owners

Dog owners and other large pet owners may find an outdoor shower a welcome addition to the home. Bathing a muddy animal outdoors, in an enclosure large enough for both the pet and the owner can be quick, easy and a lot less messy than allowing a dirty pet indoors to the nearest bathroom.

Homeowners with many small children may also find the outdoor shower a great way to keep young children clean in the summer, when mud pies and mud puddles are around. Outdoor showers can be installed wherever a spigot is already in place, with the addition of some exterior piping, a concrete pad and wood or vinyl enclosure.

Consider the installation of an outdoor shower and start having a cleaner, easier time in the outdoors.
