Guinness Marinade for Salmon

Marinating salmon and other fish in beer before pan frying it has been done for centuries, particularly along the coasts. Guinness is an extremely thick beer which sticks well to the fish and creates a coating that seals the moisture in during frying.

Ingredients

  • One can of Guinness Beer per lb of fish
  • Salmon fillet – skinned

Directions

  1. Place the salmon in a bowl
  2. Pour the Guinness over the fish and turn to coat well
  3. Allow to marinate for 30 minutes
  4. In a frying pan, heat grape seed, or another form of high temperature oil
  5. Place the fish in the hot oil, turning once after approximately 5 minutes. Be sure to scrape up the cooked batter along with the fish when turning
  6. Serve with oven baked French fries

Levels of ingredients in marinades can be adjusted to taste. Soy sauce contains a great deal of salt, so add additional seasoning carefully after first tasting the fish.

Try marinating salmon today and bring additional flavors to the home dinner menu, along with a healthier lifestyle.
